Banana Cupcakes...finally!

I have been craving banana cupcakes for a couple of weeks now and have finally had bananas get ripe enough that I could make some. They have the best flavour and the house smelled so good and homey for the rest of the day. I have used a few different recipes but I really loved this one I found at Martha Stewart's site http://www.marthastewart.com/recipe/desserts_E0308WELD_T
I topped them off with cream cheese frosting, which is my favourite frosting too. I love the sweet, but slightly tangy flavour it has and it goes so well with the dense texture of the banana cupcakes.

And this is the result of me enjoying the first cupcake...it was still warm! Yum!! Now what to do with all the leftover frosting? ;)

Piccadilly and Claire

This past Sunday morning Dave and I headed off to the very first Piccadilly Market in Geelong. it was such a great market and such a new concept for Geelong markets. There are plenty of markets around our area either weekly or monthly, but most of them have lots of second hand stalls where people are just getting rid of their old stuff. (Not that I'm against that...I have been known to have market stalls after having cleaned out my cupboards, just to make a little extra cash!) Anyway, all the stalls at the Piccadilly Market were choc full of beautiful hand crafted goodies - home wares, children's clothing, bags and jewellery. At one of the jewellery stalls were the amazing designs of the very talented Claire Faulmann, who also happens to be a good friend of mine. She makes the most amazing things, my personal favourites are the hexagon designs.

So I have just been perusing the web for cupcake recipes! Oh how I love cupcakes!! They are so tasty and cute and I have a little fantasy about having my own cupcake shop one day. It would be a little shop with displayes of gorgeous cupcakes with spectacular icing and decorations that you simply have to try. Only thing is I might have to finally get a gym membership because I would be forever sampling the tasty treats! While I've been looking at all the pictures I've had the biggest craving to bake banana cupcakes so now I'll hve to get some and let them get all soft for a few days. Nothing beats fresh banana muffins or cakes or bread - so yummy!

My Very First Blog

I must say I'm feeling very excited about my blog! I get to write down my own thoughts and musings...it's kind of like my diary...only anyone can read it..hope I'm not too boring! Anyways that's a picture of me to get the ball rolling.
