Zoe's First Beach Day

We finally made it to the beach yesterday for the first time this summer, although technically it's no longer summer! We have had a fairly cool summer this year, but at last everything aligned for us to get to Torquay with Aunty Lari for Zoe's first beach day. I think she enjoyed it. I know Hugo did!

Homemade Playdough

We made our first homemade batch of playdough today. I think we have a new favourite activity!

Painting

I bought these little watercolour paints for Hugo the other day while we were at the shops, so we busted them out this morning to play with. I'm pretty sure he liked them!

My Big Boy

It's totally taken me by surprise just how becoming a big brother has made Hugo suddenly seem so big and grown up. Just a few nights before Zoe was born, as I was cuddling Hugo to sleep, I was thinking to myself how small he still felt in my arms, how his feet were still so small and how his head still fitted in the crook of my elbow. Pregnancy hormones could well have been playing a part, but I was getting all teary thinking about the fact that he was still my baby, even though every day he surprises us with just how grown up he can seem to be, especially with his language skills.

So this morning when I saw him sitting at the dining with his bottom on the chair, feet dangling down, and still able to see over the table top to play with his cars, I needed to get out my camera and get some photos of just how big his is getting.

First Cuddle

We have been really following Hugo's cues with introducing our newest family member and his interactions with her. This morning he asked to hold her for the first time. Sweetest little moment ever.

Hugo Turns Two!

on his last night as a one year old

We kept things simple this year, celebrating our little boy. A BBQ dinner the night before his birthday with all his grandparents and aunty Lari. Just eight of us, some yum food, and of course cupcakes.

We spread the gifts out over two days, and it was a heavy train and book themed year. He was pretty happy with all his goodies. (the silver #2 balloon he was not so happy with. "no like." he declared. "scared.")

Happy Birthday Hugo David. We are so proud of how well you are growing up. We love you more than you know! xxxx
