Missional Focus: {Day 14} Reflecting on the Word

2 Corinthians 8:13-15

New International Version (NIV)
13 Our desire is not that others might be relieved while you are hard pressed, but that there might be equality. 14 At the present time your plenty will supply what they need, so that in turn their plenty will supply what you need. The goal is equality, 15 as it is written: “The one who gathered much did not have too much, and the one who gathered little did not have too little.”

God created ALL of us equal. His desire for those born into slums in Africa and India is exactly the same as His desire for those of us born in Australia and America - that all of our needs be met.

I think that most of us could admit that our needs are well and truly met - and then most  of our wants are too. God's desire is that His people would look after each other, that His family would look after each other. How many of us would turn our back if one of our siblings was without food or clothing or shelter - we just wouldn't would we? We would give them what they needed.

That is what God is asking of us, to take care of our family, His family if we claim to be a part of it, and to perhaps take a little of our wants, and turn them into someone else's needs. Let's not have too much at the expense of someone else's little.
